August’s program — Quilt as You Go
Joining Quilt As You Go (QAYG) Blocks -- Learn what kind of quilt block designs easily lend themselves to QAYG, can be converted to QAYG, or are not candidates for QAYG. Several methods on joining QAYG blocks will be shown, including Georgia Bonesteel's Lap Quilting and Betty Cotton's The Cotton Theory Method. There will be samples to see and a tip and reference sheet to take home. If you want, bring some sample quilt blocks to see how they might be used as QAYG. Bring your QAYG projects you have completed to share with others.

President's Message:
Last month all I heard was the dreaded...Christmas in July. Yes, it is coming and that means that I have to get busy working on Christmas purses and makeup bags, a wedding quilt for a dear friend in Lakeland, a baby quilt for my Chinese language partner, plus all those people in need and a quilt for the show. I know I am not the only one who has a buffet list..... better get those needles flying.

We have two opportunities to accomplish some of this work with the 9/22
Charity event and the Fall Retreat 11/2-11/3. I am looking to schedule something in early December for a workshop featuring quick and easy last-minute Christmas Gifts. If you have a favorite go to gift, bring it to show and tell and share.

And don't forget to bring your brown bag challenge.... three fat quarters, with a note of your likes/hobbies in some form of a bag. You will get yours back in December at our Christmas Party.
Remember to sew Happy Quilts.

Call for hearts!!!! DID YOU KNOW THAT THE HOSPITAL NEEDS 600 A MONTH? There are 100 new babies that need these little flannel treasures to provide the comfort of momma in the neonatal unit at Shands. We have flannel to give, we just need you to make them. Please give an hour a month to make them.

Brown Bag Challenge
Do you have fabric that you bought and don't know what to do with it? Want to be inspired by a new pattern or design? Are you lazy and want someone else to Make something for you?

Gather three fat quarter that go together...put a note with your name and three things that you like to do for fun (besides quilting) Put everything in a bag. You give a bag you get a bag...
You will have three months to make something small (no larger than 30 x 30). It can be a mug rug, a table runner, a bag, a water bottle holder...Once you give up the bag, you give up control. We ex-change in August...you have September, October and November to work on it. In December, you will get a fun Christmas gift from your Tree City Santa. It will be fun to see if you can recognize your fabric or if you remember :)

UFO Challenge
Bring a UFO that you plan to finish this year. If you bring it finished by the end of the year you will get a prize. We will present them at show and tell. It is up to
